- More info about format: More info: Thacker Mountain Radio Hour is a live hour-long radio show organized by Mississippi Public Radio and Square Books to celebrate and document the living sounds and stories of a diverse South. Featuring guest musicians and authors, Thacker Mountain Radio has a live audience of 175, a live listening audience on the radio, and another statewide for the rebroadcast on Mississippi Public Radio, which covers the entire state plus parts of the four contiguous states. The show is also broadcast in Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Taos, New Mexico, and on Alabama Public Radio. The typical author slot for the show is around 15 minutes, and the author is interviewed by the show’s host Jim Dees, and also reads a passage from their book.

Garden District Book Shop was only able to accommodate on a Friday (10/11), which isn’t the most ideal day of the week considering how busy people’s social schedules get in New Orleans during the Fall. Carroll asked me to emphasize the importance of you (and Dian I hope!) spreading the word and driving turnout through your personal network. In hopes of making your event there more of a social event in its own right, I told them I would set aside budget to offer food and beverage, so refreshments will be served as well.
